Agree entirely...something has to be left for the begginers to advance to.

If at all possible in places, keep the existing features and make a detour/reroute.

I know exactly what you mean, Brandon. However, my understanding is that the trail as a whole is meant to be a beginner/intermediate-level trail. In that case, I suppose the point of all this is to ensure that as much of it as possible meets that criteria. Although I am definitely with you on ensuring that there are still some challenging parts. No-one wants it all to be concreted over like the boring road section.

EDIT: Or I suppose, like PK said, have an expert line and a chicken line. Just like the NEW TRAIL IN TWISK WHICH IS OPENING THIS WEEKEND COME ALONG AND HELP OUT AND RIDE IT EVERYONE!!!!

Oh I missed that one - I guess you just posted as I was typing mine. Yeah, that bit is ugly - flagstone would be preferable to those damn vertical slabs we see everywhere.

I will be there this weekend for the whole day...should be a good laugh.

Brandon/Tom - How many confirmed volunteers do we have from this site? I got an email from Eric at AFCD inviting participants from the December event, seen a handful of replies to that.

Cheers

Totally agree with the point in the second paragraph (of Brandon's post)

One or two of the sections mentioned in this thread are indeed a challenge and for those that have evetnually mastered them, to then see them dumbed down, then what's the point... we may as well ask AFCD to make the whole trail flat and straight with no obstacles/challenge whatsoever... controversial?

I was thinking of riding the Tai Lam loop at Easter - what's the best way round - clockwise or anti-clockwise?

Counter-clockwise would be my preference.

If you dont want to complete the loop on the road just turn around and go back along the trail :)

If you have to do the whole loop, then yes, counter-clockwise. But personally, I wouldn't waste time doing the road bit. It's OK, but obviously nowhere near as good as the off-road bit. ;)
