Hi Kev,

We were just about to pull the trigger and announce our first HKMBA group or social ride when our social director had a very nasty stack on the Rocky Horror that resulted in a hospital visit and an decree of rest from docs. Hoping to get this ride sorted in the future. Bikesteve was planning to help the beginners with some coaching too... Hopefully we can get this off before the heat returns.

Hi Folks,

Well i've still got this Saturday free, anyone fancy joining me for a lap of Tai Lam near the Gold Coast? All levels welcome, very steady pace, might even be able to arrange a pick up at Tsing Yi on a first come first served basis.

Great, I can probably pick up 4 riders from Tsing Yi Station which is your best bet coming from the Island or most parts of kowloon.

Lets say 9am at Tsing Yi MTR Exit 'C'

If you want to meet at the location then Siu Lam Prison entrance is probably the best place at 9:30ish.

Let me know if you need a bike I can rent Giant Anthems or XTC's for HK$250

If your definately coming just email/PM me your phone number.

Hi Steve
I would be keen to join the ride this Saturday too, and could meet at the 9.30am location at the Prison.
Got my new bike too, so keen to get it dirty !
See you then

Cool. I'll try and find the prison (see it from the main road so can't be that hard) and see you there at 9.30. No worries about the bike - question is which one to get out of its box after the move up here - the hardtail or the full susser??
How long's a loop of tai lam, or does that depend on the route - I see there are various ways to link it up?

The loop's about 14km, a third of it is sealed road but it does at least get most of the hills out the way.

The prison entrance is fairly easy to find me and Graham will probably meet you at the barrier we might drive up if we're allowed in:

Full suss for comfort, hardtail for speed, either's good, some good bouncy stuff near the end though. -Be good to see you again Graham!

Hi Steve,

I too would like to come on the Tai Lam trip, I live in Cheung Sha and was going to bike over the hill and then take the ferry to Tuen Mun.

Do you know if it is easy to get from the ferry to where you are meeting as have not been over there before.

Any guidance would be appreciated.

Actually Kev no need to mess around with ferries, I live in Shek Mun Kap on Lantau just over the hill from Cheung Sha, could you meet me at the mini roundabout at 8:30?

Just throw in a little money for fuel/bridge $50 and i'll drive you there.

Sounds good will be there just before 8:30 unless I get hit by a 3M on the way over the hill.
