For training, I think you can contact bikesteve on this forum. He'll take care of your training needs.

For Sunday ride, I ride the Dragon's Back trail in the Shek O Country park every Sunday morning. Every Sunday is different, sometimes there are four to five guyz; once in a while there will be a big group with riders travelling from other districts. Feel free to join.

I'll be taking a new guy this Sunday morning so we'll be slow as there are alot of stop & go.

Let's meet at the "Shek O Country Park" sign on Shek O Road @9:15. I'm in a green Meta 6 bike.

If you drive, go up the small road and just park at the parking spot in front of the shed and dont park further up near the prison.

Dragon's Back is kinda short, about 6km offroad. But this make for a nice short trip for both beginners and experienced riders.

1 litre of water should be fine. Hydrate the body the night before so you dont have to carry a waterpak.

I do the offroad part in one hour, depends on the Sunday hiker traffic.

Safety first, elbow, knee/shin pad recommended. If you run lock pedals, you can skip the shin pad.

I'm afraid that Bike shops on HK Island do not offer any bike rental.

Local bicycle forum mentions that bike shops in the Shatin district may in fact offer some quality MTB bike rental but I've no knowledge of it. Pls check your email for the shop link.

If it rains in the morning, then no go.

Biker taking the MTR will meet @08:30 Heng Fa Chuen McDonald.

Biker who drives will meet @09:15 the Shek O Country Park sign on Shek O Road/small road leading to the trail head.

Given that it has been super-humid and wet for more than a week, even the contour trail offers a fair amount of challenge to newbies with wet rocks and slippery roots :pinch:
