Perhaps Glim was the new guy on a Scott carbon 29er? We're on our way out along the contour trail and the Scott carbon was going in.

I think it is similar to the annual Tai Lam loop race where AFCD would not close the trail; there 're so many tourists, regular hikers, senior citizens, families carrying babies, children, various groups arriving in busload...if the trail is closed off, there'd be a riot! So AFCD would just leave it alone, even though there'd be risk arising from the race.

Yes, it is illegal for them to restrict access to any users. I don't remember exactly why at this time in the morning, but that is the state of affairs. That's why the offence MTBers are usually charged with is defined as bringing a bicycle into a country park unless the person is driving, using or in possession of the bicycle along a designated and marked road (I'm summarising here). This can lead to unfortunate consequences if someone needs to leave the park ASAP and via other than a designated road, due to injury etc.

Now that you've mentioned it, yes I think that was him! The real name and the forum name are the same. Small world indeed.

Anyone doing the AA XC races? Chi Ma Wan on the 10th, Tai Lam Chung on the 11th. I think there may still be spaces available, especially if you just want to do 1 day, 1 lap rather than both days 1 or 2 laps of each.

Cool. Did 1 lap CMW today and it was good, but too technical for me on a hardtail, so I punctured twice which was bad. Walked the last few km with someone who had dislocated his shoulder, though, so there's always someone out there worse off than you! Was a good ride otherwise, though hot and ran out of water as didn't think I'd puncture...
